Invictus是英国诗人William Ernest Henley的作品，最早写于1875年，于1888年在他的诗集中发表，是他《生与死（回声）》组诗中的第四首。当时这首诗是没有独立标题的，直到后来Arthur Quiller-Couch把它收编到1900年版的《牛津英文诗选》时方才加上了我们所直到的这个诗名：Invictus。这是个拉丁语的单词，意思是unconquerable，“不可征服的”。
